U-MAD - Truck Mounted Attenuators

All U-MAD (Unitized-Modular Attenuator Device) Truck Mounted Attenuator units have been independently tested to meet the requirements of NCHRP-350 LEVEL 3 TEST 50, 51, 52, and 53.  The U-MAD's full width design gives complete coverage to the rear of the support vehicle while providing a more absorbent impact.  U-MAD's are designed to receive both side and rear impacts.  The objective is to help to keep an errant or impacting vehicle in the construction work zone and not to redirect it either into the work zone or back into traffic.  An added feature is that the 'L' lift works in unison with the cushion.  In the travel position, the 'L' lift carries the cushion which helps reduce stress damage common in suspended lifts.

Mounting Systems:

• Standard Mounting System (SMS) - The SMS system is designed to be permanently mounted to a support truck - simply weld or bolt the U-MAD to the truck at a predetermined height, connect the wiring, and go.
• Quick Connect System (QCS) - The QCS is designed to allow the U-MAD to be removed.  It is similar to the SMS, mount the back plate to the truck at a predetermined height, then attach the 'L' lift with 4 pins.  To remove the system, pull the wiring, set the jacks, and remove the pins.
• Tube Mounting System (TMS) - The TMS system allows both lateral as well as vertical adjustment.  Simply mount the receiver tubes to the underside of the frame, slide the lift tubes into the receiver, and then pin.  Next, bolt the 'L' lift to the lift tubes at a predetermined height.  Again, to remove the system, pull the wiring and the pins.  The receiver tubes stay on the support vehicle.
• Flatbed Mounting System (FMS) - The FMS system is a multi-use design which can also be used on a low gated dump truck.  The FMS is easy to assemble and, with full adjustment, could fit multiple vehicles.  A full attenuating package is attained by attaching an arrow board to the FMS frame.  When the FMS is removed, all that remains are a support brace under the truck and two (2) recessed mounting clips in the bed of the truck.
• Dump Mounting System (DMS) - The DMS is built to add versatility to your dump fleet.  This system is similar to the FMS.  Simply strengthen the top of the dump gate, attach the support brace, and mount 2 clips to the tailgate.  Again, mounting an arrow board to the frame gives the user an all-in-one complete system.
